Spoiler‘s ‘Vampire Diaries’: Stefan & Elena Hide  Death From Damon

Plus, Bonnie finds out a secret about the Other Side that she’s having a really hard time keeping – and that could alter her whole life.

When Enzo (Michael Malarkey) discovers what really happened to his long-lost love Maggie, it puts Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in quite the predicament. And of course, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) are more than ready to pitch in.

What Really Happened To Maggie

While Enzo previously revealed that he wanted to find his one true love, Maggie, we just learned that that wouldn’t be possible. Damon actually killed her, so once again he proves what a great friend he is to Enzo, right?

Eh, not exactly. In a flashback to 1960, we see that Maggie tried stabbing Damon with a needle — so he choked her and then ripped her head off. Not only was he just defending himself, he didn’t know she was the one that Enzo loved, and he had his emotions shut off at the time.

It wasn’t much of a surprise that Enzo didn’t want to deal with the pain of Maggie being gone, losing Damon has a friend, or the feeling of having absolutely nothing. So, he ended up shutting off his humanity altogether. But even that wasn’t enough to take away his pain.

Stefan & Elena Lie To Damon To Protect Him

After going off, and kidnapping Elena, she tries getting away and he snapped her neck, and Stefan took it into his own hands and naturally it became a throw down. Enzo without his humanity wasn’t a nice guy, to say the least, and when he was about to kill Stefan, he reached into his chest and grabbed his heart. Enzo decided that that he was ready to die — and that he knew Stefan would suffer enough telling Damon he killed his only friend. With that, he pushes himself away abruptly, leaving his heart in Stefan’s hand.

Meanwhile, Elena was lying unconscious in the middle of campus and none other than Damon himself comes to her rescue and we’ve got to say that carrying her into her bed and grazing her cheek, we had that false hope for just a minute she’d wake up and they’d go back to being happily ever after. Or whatever it was they were when they were together. But, no such luck. He tucked her in and disappeared.

After waking, Stefan tells Bonnie and Elena what happened and they decide together that the death should be kept from Damon for his sake. However, he probably will find out sooner rather than later — Enzo’s ghost returned and watched over the Salvatore brothers, and sent a disturbing message.

I believe the line was “You know me, — I never let go of a good vendetta and this one’s just getting started.” So, to be clear, Enzo didn’t care that Damon left him for dead, but does care that he killed his girlfriend. Gotcha.

Doppelganger Blood: So That’s Why It’s Valuable

Sloan (Caitlin McHugh), who was ruling the Travelers before Markos (Raffi Barsoumian) arrived was definitely not in charge anymore. Markos put on some sort of ritual and Sloan volunteered to be the “guinea pig.”

She headed over to Tyler (Michael Trevino) and began drinking his blood from his hand — then Markos slit her throat. After some time, she woke up and he announced that the blood of the last two doppelgangers would reverse the witches spells. So, he began feeding her with it. He then cut her hand to see if she would heal — and she didn’t; she proved that she wasn’t a vampire anymore, but a human.

Yes, that means doppelganger blood is the cure. So, what was the point of looking for the cure from all this time? Now they just have to get more doppelganger blood. There’s only two more left, so we wonder what’s next.

Oh — and Tyler was there for it all. Since he’s a hybrid he kept cutting in and out from passenger to himself, and we’ve got a feeling that it was Tyler who saw what happened, and heard the Markos wants to kill all vampires.

In the midst of it all, Bonnie was trying to figure out what’s going on with the other side, and Liv helped her realize that her time may just be coming to an end – after they let Markos cross back over, it has all been falling apart. And if the other side disintegrates, then so does Bonnie.
