Paltrow, 41, and Martin, 37, says they have "worked hard on the relationship for over a year," both together and in different places, but they still decided to go their separate ways. "We are, after all, and will always be a family, and in many ways we are closer to each other now than ever." 

The couple married in great secrecy in 2003 and has children Apple and Moses along.
