Vampire Diaries’ Recap: One Doppelgänger’s Life Comes To A Bloody End
The Travelers aren’t playing around. After draining the doppelgängers of liters of blood, they have enough to get that spell started the spell that will result in a literal broken heart.
While Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) tried to find their way back to Mystic Falls, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) oddly decided to trap Markos’ (Raffi Barsoumian) into the Savatore home. But even with the help of a fellow Travelor, Markos proved it wasn’t going to be easy to stop him.
After draining almost all of Stefan and Elena’s doppelgänger blood for the spell to stop the magic in the town, Markos explained to Damon that there was nothing he could do and that even by capturing the Travelers’ bodies, he would still take over Mystic Falls and then the world.
The spell though had already began taking the magic away – Liv (Penelope Mitchell) and Luke (Chris Brochu) lost their powers, all the vampires lost their daylight rings, and that meant the next step was death. So, even though Julian (Michael Trevino) helped Damon (and he let him out of the basement cell for it), it wasn’t enough.
Bonnie (Kat Graham) finally came clean to Caroline (Candice Accola) about the Other Side, and while they tried coming up with a way to stop it from changing, their only hope was Maria, who saved Stefan and Elena — the witch who was married to Julian (the Traveler inside Tyler’s body). While she died after rescuing them, thanks to Liv and Luke, she was on the Other Side and even though she knew the spell, she was taken away for good before she could tell it.
Her death didn’t just mean that Bonnie was going to be gone soon, though — it meant that all the vampires and witches of the town’s powers were slipping away. While Delena finally found their way back into each other’s arms, Stefan went to find Caroline and Bonnie.
Unfortunately, they were first greeted by Julian (who used to be Tyler), who obviously wasn’t happy to hear that his wife was dead. So, he came after Stefan — but Caroline snuck up on him to tried to snap his neck. Instead, he overpowered her with his werewolf powers so Stefan had to jump in to save her. Unfortunately, he’s not as strong as he used to be since he’s short on blood — and not strong enough to fight off Julian
It breaks my heart to write this, but Julian ripped out Stefan’s heart. Yes, you read that right — Stefan was killed trying to save Caroline, after she tried to save him. Plus, he was killed by the one that Damon had let free
